At Sargeant’s Roofing company we install all shingles with 6 nails on every single project; mainly because it was more of a personal quality control measure which we learned before these “high wind warranties” were around. Each strip is either “Dashed” or “Dotted” so if the rain and wind allows water to go “up” the shingle, it will stop at the second line but will still drain back down just below the shingle. Also, the double strips on each shingle are for dual protection to serve as hurricane-resistance, as well as an improved wind warranty.
