When the unthinkable happens, your insurance is there to cover you. However, there are many things that can affect the outcome of your claim, and in our last blog, the expert roofers at Sargeant’s Roofing went over a few tips to help you make the most out of your claim. Here are a few more things you can do to maximize your roofing claim:
4. Get your roof inspected as soon as possible.
After a storm has passed through or a tree has fallen on your roof, you shouldn’t wait to get the damaged inspected by a professional. In this situation, hiring a professional is essential because the damage may not be obvious to the untrained eye. Additionally, it’s important to get this done as promptly as possible because some policies have limits for how long you can wait.

5. Document the damage.
Take “before” photos of your roof to have on hand at all times. Then, when your roof gets damaged, you can easily show your insurer the damage. Document all of the damage using videos and photographs. It’s also a good idea to keep all paperwork regarding the damage, including bills, estimates, etc.
6. Make temporary repairs in the meantime.
It can take quite a while for your claim be resolved, and if you wait to make some repairs, such as roof leaks, your insurance company may not cover the claim because you did not get the issues repaired.
As you can see, filing your insurance claim can be complicated, but our roofing experts in Edmonton are here to help. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
